GEORGE WASHINGTON COMMEMORATION 18K PATEK POCKET WATCH
The most prominent among the American figures of the early 19th century, naturally, was the country's first president, George Washington. This fabulous commemorative timepiece was produced to honor the Father of The United States, and it is a remarkable relic of its time. Made by Chs Patek & Co, this beautifully styled and filigree gold pocket watch is without any doubt a treasure of the American history. The front cover bears an incredibly detailed, all hand-engraved oval portrait of George Washington as presented in a painting of 1776. The back cover bears another incredibly detailed, all hand-engraved oval image of Mount-Vernon as appeared on 1861. Opening the front cover reveals, a superbly Roman-numerated white enamel dial in excellent condition still signed "Chs Patek & Co Geneva", with an inset second-hand dial, the marking "K18" on its inside front cover. Under the back cover, the inscribed legend, "Patent Lever - Full Jewelled - Chs Patek & Co. - Geneva," is completely legible, the marking "K18" on its inside back cover too . Its key-wound apparatus is in good working order, and the watch is accompanied by its original key. Clearly handled with suitable care and respect throughout its long life. Size: 43 mm in diameter.
